The Regional
Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, the City of Reno,
City of
Sparks, Washoe County, and Nevada Department of Transportation have partnered
together to
work on a comprehensive project aimed at improving traffic signal operation
and enhance traffic mobility. The project will improve some of the most heavily
traveled corridors within the region by coordinating traffic signals and limiting
the delays.
There are a total of 165 intersections being studied for this project. Optimal timings
for 78 of the 165 intersections will be deployed by Summer
2006. The remaining intersections will be analyzed, and optimal timings will be
deployed and operating by Fall, 2006.
